This is my entry for =lockstock's Occult contest. Finally finished one by the contest deadline.
The title comes from a line in one of the Batman movies, I think. All I remember is the quote went something like this - Did you ever dance with the devil in the pale moonlight. It may not be exactly the quote, but it is the way I remember it. I thought about using the title The Corpse's Bride.
The painting is done in Photoshop LE with a Wacom Graphire3 tablet and took me way too many hours.
Inspiration for the painting and the main reference for the skeleton is from this image [link] by ~blublu-stock.
The woman is, of course, the lovely
. I used a combination of stocks from Rose Pack 3 and others.
The background was inspired by a photo of the Kaiserdom [link] by ~Schomsen and was used with his permission.
Incidently, Sophie's dance partner is a self-portrait of what I'd look like without a beard or clothes. Just in case anyone is wondering what I look like, now you know.
Full view is a must. It looks blurred and crappy otherwise. (Not saying it looks great in full view, only better than the small version.)
