Finally.

I present the Goddess of Bad Weather.

This is a tribute/appeasement piece in hopes she will leave me alone. She hit my house with lightning destroying my t.v. and other appliances. She then dropped a tree on my house with a tornado, then a few months later used Hurricane Rita to take out a couple of fences and do further damage to my walls and roof and tearing down the temporary repairs I'd added after the tornado. Once she tore off the temporary roof, she dropped several inches of rain into my bedroom and living room. This year she has subjected my area to historical records of rainfall.
She remained difficult through the creation of this piece. It started as a full figure piece, but that wasn't working and I was getting tired and frustrated with it. She has had different costumes, including various types of armor, none of which I could get to come out to my satisfaction. Her sword went from a saber as on the stock photo to a more fantastical weapon, even to the sword of Gryffindor from the Harry Potter movies, and finally back to a saber as nothing I tried came out very well. Her jewelry was initially more elaborate and involved necklaces and head pieces, but they didn't work out either. I didn't want to work on anything else until I completed this piece, and thus didn't work on anything at all for a long while. Plus I had just switched from PhotoshopLE (an ancient scaled down version of Photoshop) to Photoshop CS which involved a surprisingly long learning curve.

Enough of the trials and tribulations. This piece was painted in Photoshop CS using the airbrush and anything else I could get to work. I also used a Wacom Graphire4 tablet.

Reference for the Goddess was [link] from the stock of the beautiful :icontw1stedtruth-stock:.

Her hair and lightning earring reference was from :iconlindowyn-stock:.

The lightning is from a brush made by :icondigital-nexus:.

Critique is always appreciated, for use with future work. I very seriously doubt I will ever revisit this particular picture again.

Gorgeous picture. Only things that really stand out to me is maybe the sword could have a little more definition on some parts, kind of looks foil-ish due to the lack of hard edges. The highlighted strands on the right side of her hair don't contrast well with her left darker side. The face and cloth however are pretty much perfect, it's just in comparison the 2 parts I mentioned, it shows where you spent the most attention.

Really these are little things, but it's all I could really find that's wrong. Good work.
Welcome to CS ;P
Very well done mate, I like the more portrait style you've done here.
She definetly gave you a bad run with the weather :O_o:

I'm really liking the different skin tones. This is a well put together piece. :)
The only critique I have would be with the highlight from the lightening. I think the highlight would be brighter.
Thanks for posting the stock artist, she has some really nice stuff.

I was wondering when you were going to put a new piece! Certainly doesn't disappoint. :)

she looks amazingly like my little sister when she was in her late teens - more so in your rendition than the original model does.

she definitely looks powerful enough to have wreaked so much vengeance down upon you... what did you do to piss her off so anyway? ;)

Thanks.
I like CS, just don't know how to use all the features available to me. I have gotten really good at the ' undo ' feature however.
