Artist's Comments

It's lonely being a swamp faerie. Nothing but dragonflies and tiny swamp dragon lizards to keep you company.

You can try to count the dragonflies, if you want. ONly I'm not sure they'll show up. Most of my stuff shows up much blurrier than it looks on my computer.

This is painted in photoshop LE. I tried a bit different technique, using a brush instead of the airbrush for the fairy. I still used the airbrush for the background. The idea was to see if it would look more painted and to see if it was faster. It was faster than my other stuff, but I think that is because I have a tablet now, instead of using a mouse. As usual, critique is much appreciated and needed. I already know a few things I wish I'd done different.

Beautiful work! I think the palette is definitely much more unified than in some of your previous work. :) The colors seem to fit together well. The light on the fairy's skin is beautiful! I'd like to see a little more light in the wings, perhaps - just because I always think of fairies as having sparkling, bright wings - but that's just a personal preference. It's a lovely painting!

About works coming out blurrier online than on your computer - I have that problem, too. Sometimes I have to re-upload a picture four or five times before the image comes out clear. It's not a problem so much when I upload it over a cable modem; but with dial-up it is often blurry. A bit of interference, maybe, in the communication? I don't know.

The water came out beautifully! It's such a challenge to paint, at least in my experience. You did a great job with it! :D

and here i was surprised to find such a beautiful work just while browsing, rather than having it pointed it out either as a DD or as a favorite on someone else's favorites - i guess some of us are just lucky sometimes :D

Thank you again. What a sweet thing to say. You made my night, morning, whatever it is here now.

As always, your comments are so appreciated. Thank you.
And I agree about the wings. They probably should be more glistening and bright.
I also think you have hit the nail on the head on the blurriness. I have a dial-up connection, a very, very slow dial-up connection. (The phone lines out here are so old and slow that even with a 56k modem the lines won't let me connect at more than 28k. DSL and cable connections aren't even available. That's what I get for living out in the swamp with the swamp fairies.)
The water was difficult for me, and I worked hard at getting it at least passable, so I'm glad that you think it came out okay. Thanks.
